Walk the dogs (3-4hrs time commitment) 
You can walk one of the dogs at the public shelter in Mafra three times per week - Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings. The shelter is about a 15-minute drive from the center of Ericeira. Each dog gets about 15-20 minutes of walking and playtime on a small path and play area outside the shelter. This is  the only time they get out of their cages, making it the highlight of their week!

Foster a dog
The shelter is overcrowded and fostering is a huge way to give the dogs a sense of normal life before they find their forever homes. Think of fostering as temporary adoption - you’ll be responsible for food, necessities, and basic medical care. Occasionally, we have dogs and cats that need fostering for just a few weeks or months. 

Ericeira Paws is especially looking for people to help on a more regular basis by taking on roles within the team, such as social media creation and event coordination. If you’re passionate about helping animals and want to contribute in a meaningful way, this is your chance to make a lasting impact in the lives of these animals and within our Ericeira community.

Help Collect Donations / Fundraise
Ericeira Paws is always looking for support to organize donation drives and raise funds for essential items like beds, blankets, toys, and high-quality food, as well as to cover medical expenses for the dogs. Your efforts and creativity  in coordinating these events can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our furry friends. 

Help With Social Media   
They always need help with social media - one of the primary ways the dogs find their forever homes. Creating engaging videos and photos that highlight their unique personalities is essential to helping them get adopted into loving families. If you’re skilled at capturing videos and/or creating reels or carousel posts, your creativity could make a big difference. Check out their Instagram here.
